Forward: The following spells are the personal grimoire of a renegade spellcaster played under the Fantasy Realms mechanics adapted to the Hârn World base. Anyone may use the material within this document for their own campaign and for non-commercial use.

A Stitch In Time {-2}
Convocation: Fyvria
Casting Time: One Round
Duration: Instant
Range: Touch
Target: Cloth or leather items


This spell uses a talisman, a small steel sewing needle, which is touched against the item to be affected. It will repair minor and full damage equivalents done to the item, if it is made of cloth or leather, perfectly repairing tears, rips, and other such damage (but not stains) and restoring lost toughness of leather armor (1 pt per casting), except for damage caused by fire or acid, making the material appear undamaged.

Brush up that Fine Looking Horse {-5}
Convocation: Fyvria
Casting Time: One Minute
Duration: Permanent
Range: Touch
Target: Any One Horse


This spell uses a talisman, a horse brush, to achieve its work. The brush must be used to brush out the mane of the target horse, and when completed it will transform the horse from an ordinary beast to an excellent looking example of horseflesh (with +1 attractive appearance added) permanently. It does not change the horses attributes, but the impressive changes can turn a nag into a fine warhorse or riding mount (caster's choice) in appearance.

This spell is cast minimally, using a soft vocal mantra and a subtle hand gesture, and magically creates a single perfect mundane mouse in the hand of the caster. The caster has no control over the creation, and the spell ends after the mouse is created (the mouse is ordinary in all other ways and will have a normal lifespan etc).

Curtain Of Darkness {-4}
Convocation: Odivshe
Casting Time: One Minute
Duration: LD
Range: Perception
Target: A plane area 2 yards square


This is cast using obvious hand gestures, and the area being affected will slowly darken until the spell is completed. The curtain is complete darkness, blocking all light from passing thru it from either side. Multiple castings of this can be put in a row to form longer areas of coverage as needed.

Detect Any Active Magic {0}

Range: Personal/Perception
Target: Personal




Once cast, and while concentrated on, this allows the caster to perceive the auras of people, creatures and objects, revealing if there are active spells working upon them, and with a successful Perception roll the colors of said magics (on the Wheel). Concentration is the key to this spell, and no other spellcasting efforts are needed.

Detect True Metals {-2}

Target: One Coin


Cast upon a coin, this will reveal the true metal content of the coin to the caster, by tossing it up in the air and catching the coin again. This helps in the detecting of counterfeits of various types, where an illusion, plating or other means are used to disguise a less valuable or worthless coin.

Hidden Sword Trick {-3 }

Target: Knife, Dagger or Taburi


This spell will temporarily transform a knife, dagger, or Taburi into a Shortsword or Sindarin Longknife (casters preference). This will continue while the caster concentrates on it (ends if caster becomes unconscious). This is a useful spell when traveling in civilized areas that object to the carrying of swords in public by non-nobles. There is a bright flash with the transformation, and it requires words of activation spoken in a normal voice and a subtle hand gesture.

Holes Are Seldom Empty {-4}
Convocation: Jmorvi & Lyahvi

Range: Perception
Target: Dirt, sand or loose rock


Cast upon an area of dirt, sand or loose rock, this will create a hole by transforming the material into atmospheric gases for the duration. It requires the caster to walk around in a circle to define the area to become the hole. Depth is equal to the dimensions of the circle, since it handles a spheric area. It does NOT work on solid stone, constructed stone (brick, mortar, cement, concrete etc) or refined metals.

Invisible Friend {-4}
Convocation: Lyahvi
Casting Time: One Round

Target: willing sentient


This turns a being with 5*Power in gear invisible to sight and scent. It requires a spoken element and obvious hand gestures. It ends when the target makes a violent attack or caster becomes unconscious.

Mumbo Jumbo {-5}
Convocation: Fyvria
Casting Time: One Round
Duration: LD
Range: Touch
Target: one mouse


This flashy little effect can prove very useful when one needs to block a passage, foil pursuit or confuse a situation. A mantra in a normal voice, accompanied by a hand movement of tossing the target mouse from one's hand will be quickly followed by a bright flash of light, a puff of smoke and a big 'bang' as air is forced away from the mouse as it transforms into a full sized elephant. The caster has no control over the resulting beast, and it is totally untrained (and probably quite scared and startled).

Paint Splatter (-5)
Convocation: Savorya
Casting Time: One round

Target: Unwilling Sentients


This illusion will cause those in a radius area of the caster at casting to be painted a specified color for the duration (red, blue, green, plaid etc) along with their possessions etc. The paint marks them for easy identification. Casting requires normal voice and obvious hand & arm gestures. It is often used along with the 'Surprise Waiting In The Wings' to set up traps.

Proliferating Pockets & Parcels of Procurement (-3)
Convocation: Lyahvi & Savorya
Casting Time: One Minute
Duration: Permanent
Range: Touch
Target: One Pocket or container


This spell requires the use of a talisman, in this case a ring of gold set with a ruby, which is placed within the targeted pocket or other container as part of the casting. The spell is limited to an original object of not more than 5 lbs * Power in weight, and thus is more commonly used on pockets. It has two major effects upon the container, first it makes whatever is placed within the container to have no weight while within the container - that is, the objects weight does not burden the bearer of the container in any way, it will appear that the container is empty to those who do not know of the spell. Secondarily, the internal size of the container is expanded dimensionally so that objects larger than its normal dimensions can be placed within. This second affect is based on the Power of the caster acting as a multiple (ex: a Power 2 character would make the internal size of the container twice its normal capacity, a Power 3 character would make it three times its normal size etc). It does not change the external size of the container in any way.

Return To Sheath {-2}
Convocation: Jmorvi
Casting Time: One Round

Range: Arcane Connection
Target: Dagger or Knife or throwing axe/hatchet


This recalls a specific dagger to a previously prepared talisman sheath, no matter where it may be. It requires a recalling in a normal voice, and obvious hand gestures.

Something Fishy Going On Here {-4}
Convocation: Fyvria
Casting Time: One Minute
Duration: Permanent
Range: Touch
Target: One Fresh Fish


This takes any fish, max Power * 5 lbs in size, and after a minute of mystical hand motions and recitation of a verbal formula in a normal voice, there will occur a bright flash of light and the fish will increase its size to a max of Power *10 lbs in size permanently. This allows the creation of great feasts etc.

Subtle Passage {-3}
Convocation: Lyahvi
Casting Time: One Round
Duration: XD
Range: Personal
Target: Personal


This turns the caster and a max of 5* Power in gear invisible to sight and scent. It requires a spoken element "Subtlety is a specialty" in a normal voice with obvious hand gestures. Lasts until the caster makes a violent attack or becomes unconscious.

Surprise Waiting In The Wings (-3)
Convocation: Savorya
Casting Time: 15 minutes
Duration: XD
Range: Touch
Target: Object/Spell


This spell is cast upon an object that a second spell will be placed upon by the caster. It will hold that spell in stasis until the stated condition set at casting occurs, ending this spell and letting the second one become active . Conditions can be things like "when touched by anyone else but the caster". The object is limited to a maximum mass of POWER*10 lbs. Casting requires normal speaking voice and subtle hand gestures.

Theme Music {-4}
Convocation: Lyahvi
Casting Time: One Round
Duration: DD
Range: Perception
Target: Unwilling Sentient


The target of this gets a normal SPIRIT save against the effect. The caster uses a normal voice to inflict the effect upon the target with obvious hand gestures. If successful the victim will notice no difference, but everyone who is within PERCEPTION range will be able to hear clearly that music is accompanying the actions and moods of the victim, making it difficult for them to disguise their intent or presence in an area.



Vanishing For Fun & Profit {-6 }
Convocation: Lyahvi
Casting Time: Five Round
Duration: XD
Range: Touch
Target: Non-Sentient Object, max. Power * 500 Lbs.


This can turn any non-sentient object touched invisible. It requires obvious hand gestures and magical vocal statements in a normal voice. The object will slowly fade away from sight. It does not affect any other senses. A keyword is included in the statements that will, when spoken within 3 yards of the object will end the spell. The spell otherwise end when dispelled or upon the caster's death.

Wail of Fearful Torment (-4)
Convocation: Lyahvi
Casting Time: One minute
Duration: CD
Range: Touch/Object
Target: Personal/Object


This spell will produce a horrible wailing alarm-like sound that will startle animals and makes sentients who fail to save vs Spirit under FEAR effects. It can be put on the caster or on a touched object, max. 10 lbs*power in mass, and requires voice and subtle hand gestures to cast. It is often used in combination with 'Surprise waiting in the Wings'. It does not affect deaf characters.



Wail of Torment (0)
Convocation: Lyahvi
Casting Time: One minute
Duration: CD
Range: Touch/Object
Target: Personal/Object


This spell will produce a horrible wailing alarm-like sound that can startle animals and may drive away attackers or thieves. It can be put on the caster or on a touched object, max. 10 lbs*power in mass, and requires voice and subtle hand gestures to cast. It is often used in combination with 'Surprise waiting in the Wings'.
