We Have A Porch!

The Good News is that the porch replacement project has been completed and we have now been able to return many things to the new porch that have been piled up in our kitchen, hallway, storage room etc.

Our website now has new domain names, and I've designed a new front end as you get to the site. We can now be reached via Fantasylibrary.com, Naughtyfaerie.org, Naughtyfaerie.com and kiralee.org (eventually Kiralee.org will point elsewhere as kiralee gets the content put together for her own sub-site).

Our cable has been fixed and is now working in full. (Of course there's nothing much on, as its summer, and when I do find something I want to watch it inevitably fails to get recorded because of our roomate's insistance of being in charge of taping and faulty memory when it comes to anything she personally doesn't care about).

The Bad News we're now on our second out of a predicted four days of irregular thunderstorms, high humidity and annoying weather days (3 power outages in our house as of this afternoon from the storms). Our back hall is now being painted, which means that the contents of it have had to be shuffled around to our front hall, porch and storeroom. There wouldn't be so many contents, except that everything that we used to have in the basement was moved to the hall 2 years ago (as of August) in order to deal with the initial exploratory work on the basement. And of course the basement continues to have no end in sight.... the painting will only take a few days, if we are lucky.

Our Wed Night gaming group may be on the verge of self destruct, as folks are unable to come to a comfortable and equitable compromise game. I've been running a fill-in game for the past 5 sessions, and maybe have 1 or 2 sessions (depending on how tonight goes) left to the game. Our absent player has offered to take over the helm when she returns, but so far her three offered game ideas have struck less than paydirt with folks. Actually they've pretty much left us in an arguing mess in email over the past week, as our styles, interests and desires are very different.

Some of it is a mechanics thing (her time is limited so she wants to work with either the system we are using currently in a sub-set of the current setting, or with the system she feels most competent with, Storyteller). Kiralee dislikes Storyteller, I have reservations about it as does at least one of the other players in the game. Some of the rest is a trust issue, an issue over rules lawyering (which skyelf often inflicts on us), issues over the actual themes chosen, and the fact that one of the three options is set in the WOD, which many of us find just no fun to play in. We're not into angst, playing crazy people or having zero control over what our characters are or can do - and thats basically our three options. Sigh

Without another GM to step to the plate, or an idea she is is willing to run that we can agree on, we'll probably phase out the Wed night game for now with these players. If a miracle occurs, or a recruitment drive for new GM/Players occurs I'll post about it later.

It's all put Kiralee back in depression mode, making life even more frustrating. Shes fallen behind on the various house things she handles (the accounting, the condo association stuff, ironing etc.) and keeps throwing emergency tasks at me at the last minute when she realized she's forgotten something with a deadline.

I've gotten notice of Federal Jury Duty in September.... annoying since I got State Duty a mere year ago, which doesn't count to my 'duty' since it was less than 5 days. (The Feds are also DIRT cheap in what they pay jurors, a mere $40 a day, less than minimum wage! You'd think they would hold themselves to the pay standards they force on companies.) No option to postpone it to a convient time (like with the state), but at least its in Boston and not Lowell this time.

Its all leaving me rather tired, semi-depressed (I'm caffinating myself right now to prepare for tonights game that I'm GMing, or otherwise I wouldn't manage to get this written even), and wish I could just ignore the world for a few days and do some yoga meditations in peace and quiet without worrying about schedules, other folks physical needs or life in general.

I think I need a stress-level thermometer or guage to put on my pages... to warn people when I'm nearing explosion point....

Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings.....
