Enjoying Some Personal Time
As the sidebar shows, I've been continuing my use of non-gaming time with a variety of entertainments. Kiralee and I also got a small amount of
shopping done this Saturday in Porter Square (as part of a trip to get a watch band and some batteries replaced). We went to the nifty Tibetan shop above the watch store
and got a new Altar cloth for our home altar and a pair of new meditation CDs for use with Yoga. This was more or less our Holiday gifts to ourselves, since our cash flow has been poor in recent months thanks to repairs, family responsibilities etc. I have hopes that the New Year might, for at least a few months, will be better. Mainly because the basement project will be on hold while waiting for the Zoning Board decision.
I've been working on getting Kiralee's sub-section of the website put together, along with getting her URL to now go to her own specific
index page etc. Folks who drop by will get to see one of her publicity stills for bellydancing that hasn't been up until now, and a growing number of sections that I need to
fill out for her (since she has zero time for site maintenance). So Kiralee.org is slowly coming together.
I've also acquired another URL for the website, for a project I'm working on. I won't post the details, but I'm betting on a nifty name ahead of time to ensure that I'll stay motivated. When there's something to actually see, I'll be sure to advertise the info.
Today I'm taking it easy while Kiralee is visiting a few friends in Arlington, as I am feeling a touch under the weather. I suspect I may be having the first signs of a cold, and am doing my best to knock it down with rest, proper immunity boosting herbal teas and vitamin supplements, as really don't want to get sick. I've done this twice this successfully this year already, with nothing worse than having my voice be slightly gravely for a day or two, so I have high hopes.
Arisia Schedule: Well I got my panel schedule from Arisia programming and will be appearing on the following panels:
The pickings on gaming panels and gaming are going to be a be a bit slim this year anyway, thanks to the person who had been put in charge evidently flaking out, disappearing for months on end etc before they were replaced. I know the person now in charge of tabletop, and he's doing the best he can, but its too late to add much to the schedule or make any real major changes. All he can promise is he'll try to fix things for next year..... I'm hoping he'll actually be in charge, but I'm not exactly going to fail to be cynical in general in the situation.
They keep assuring me that things will get better for gamers.... and have been doing this for several years, and each year something comes up to screw it up. So I'll believe it when I see it, but for now I'm assuming that gamers will continue to be the second class citizens we've been treated as for much of the past decade at Arisia.
Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings.....

So, I basically got on all the panels I offered to sit on that were offered to me, which is a good thing. Unfortunately the schedule means that I will pretty much unable to attend much in the way of gaming on Sat. the prime day for such things (especially roleplaying gaming), much like happened last Arisia. Well at least some gaming will be running this time, since they fixed things in regards to GMs and membership compensation etc so we won't be suffering from a walk-out like happened last year. That was pretty much caused by a con-chair who was clueless about gaming, the work involved or the time involved to run a RPG event. I also have no real slots where I could run anything, but I kind of expected that to happen.
