Building Update : Well things didn't stay 100% quiet on the building front. I got a call from the other owner over the weekend from Florida, that they needed me to let a plumber in at 8:00 AM on Monday into the tenant unit on the third floor to fix the toilet. The seal on the tank was evidently gone, so it wouldn't hold water. So, I had to be cleaned up and ready to let him in. Lucklily(?) I had woken with a nightmare around 5 am and couldn't get back to sleep, so I had plenty of prep time before he got to the building... actually more, since he didn't actually show up until 8:30... and then it turned out one of the tenants had taken the day off,and could have let him in.
There are times when I HATE being a defacto Property owner and defacto building manager.
Computer Update : Well, first thing Monday morning I called up HP's parts department, after being unable to order from them online successfully on Sun. night. I should expect a package in about a week with a new AC Cord & Power Adapter combo. This sets me back some $79 (including shipping) but hopefully will solve my problem. If it doesn't than it's the socket and I have to make some serious long term plans on how to keep myself online and with a working computer.
It does annoy me that things like AC cords and power adapters are propriatory these days. Whatever happened to the concept of computers with easily replacable parts? You don't find this happening with a desktop model, only notebooks. Sigh. This is what I get for living in an overcrowded house without enough space for me to keep a desktop of own,
but where everyone depends on me to keep their machines running. I'm delegated to the kitchen counter when its not being used for cooking or other projects, the occasional coffee table and a folding table/student desk when I can manage to squeeze it in someplace for a few hours of serious writing, and of course heading out to the nearest Cafe when I can manage to get a seat for an hour or two of writing in.
Household Update : Well, Cindy is now officially into tax season, with no more Saturdays free and overtime 5 nights a week. This means we'll be doing more late dinners. Kiralee has had to give up one of her two dance classes each week due to the cost, thanks to our basement the cash flow is getting tighter as time goes on; and she can't take any yoga classes this month as she'll be working some overtime each night herself (a half hour to an hour most nights except Thursdays). My yoga classes are also being more restricted along the way, so that we actually have some spending money in March when we take our big trip out to visit her relatives in Seattle next month.
Personal Update : Despite my frustration I'm trying to make myself write and do some game design work today, even if all that means is I sit here at the computer in the cafe for a couple of hours and just re-organize files or putter around on Livejournal reading what others are writing. I have to keep depression and frustration from taking over or I'll just become useless to everyone, and if I do that then the entire household would fall apart (since I'm the only one with any time to do ANYTHING in the way of maintenance, chores, cooking, cleaning, laundry, errands, shopping, etc.)
Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings.....
